The Foundation focuses on the development of young people’s potential to achieve. It also looks for ways in which the contribution of young people can be optimised so that they will be able to help the British economy and society thrive.

Objectives of Fund

The Foundation focuses on the development of young people’s potential to achieve. It also looks for ways in which the contribution of young people can be optimised so that they will be able to help the British economy and society thrive.

The Foundation currently gives consideration ONLY to grant applications that provide evidence showing that the new proposal will have an extremely close fit to existing work. The Foundation has a wide range of established longer-term funding commitments and has limited capacity to make further grants.

Value Notes

Funding is at the discretion of the Trustees.

No minimum or maximum level of funding is specified.

Match Funding Restrictions

Match funding is not a stipulated requirement of the scheme.

Who Can Apply

Educational and charitable organisations in the UK are eligible to apply.

Restrictions

Funding is not available for the following:

  • Retrospective applications.
  • Individuals
  • Research projects.
  • Projects that involve mainstream education.
  • Research or activities outside the UK.

Eligible Expenditure

Funding is available for activities that are small scale, innovative and enterprising ventures which have the chance of changing national policy and practice, once their effectiveness has been demonstrated over a period.

Any new proposed activity should be reliably of high quality, complement existing activity, be successful and have the potential to be of influence on a national scale.

The current priorities of the Foundation are:

  • Social opportunity– finding approaches/initiatives which help young people, whatever their background, to live fulfilling and productive lives in whatever ways have meaning and value for them.
  • Personal capabilities– developing approaches which enhance young people’s personal capacity to cope with the demands of growing up and with adult life.
  • Improving practical, technical, vocational capability– especially that which relates to designing and making, to innovation and to manufacturing.

How To Apply

Applications may be submitted at any time.

The first step in the application process is to submit a grant application letter (guidelines for writing the letter are available on the Foundation’s website) to the Administrator who, after consultation, will advise on whether it is likely to be worthwhile making a full application.
